Under 11s triumph at EPSCA final!
Our under 11 team has matched the achievement of our younger under 9 players and won the English Primary Schools Inter-Association Under 11 trophy. This is the first time we have won this title.
Fifteen teams assembled in Northampton to battle it out on Saturday 12th May. With a reserve pressed into action at the last moment the team did well to gain 14.5 points out of 20 in the first round - putting us in second place with local rivals Hertfordshire in the lead! Fifteen minutes into the second round reinforcements arrived to help the team to a magnificent 17 out of 20. We were now in first place and the pressure was on for the third and final round! The children responded with determination and brilliance to gain another wonderful score of 18 out of 20 bringing our total to 49.5. Victory was ours!
Many
congratulations to all the players, coaches (Angela Eyton and Tony Niccoli) and thanks to all the parents, especially Mr Lewis who brought his son to the event at very short notice for round 2!
Winning the U11 and U9 Zones and Finals together with the Girls results means Barnet has also won the Audio Chess Grand Prix.
